Helping every child grow with respect, responsibility, and readiness.
Our Philosophy
At The Learning Tree STEAM Academy, we view discipline as an opportunity for learning and growth, not punishment. Our goal is to teach positive behavior, repair harm, and build a community based on fairness, kindness, and accountability.
We follow four guiding principles
Excellence first
students are encouraged to do their best in all areas.
Restorative approach
helping children understand and improve, not fear mistakes.
Consistency & fairness
clear expectations at every grade level.
Partnership with families
parents and teachers work together for each child’s success.
The 3 R’s — Core Behavior Expectations
These three values shape how we learn, play, and grow every day.
Respect
for self, others, property, and the learning environment.
Responsibility
for one’s actions, choices, and learning.
Readiness
to come prepared, on time, and with a positive attitude.
School-Wide Rules
Follow teacher directions the first time they’re given.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Use kind and respectful language.
Take care of school materials and property.
Stay in designated areas at all times.
Behavior Levels & Interventions
Tier 1
Minor behaviors
talking out of turn, late homework → Verbal reminder, redirection, reteaching expectations, parent contact if repeated.
Tier 2
Moderate behaviors
disrespect, dishonesty, repeated defiance → parent call or meeting, reflection form, restorative conversation, detention, support plan.
Our restorative model focuses on empathy and making things right. These tools help students rebuild relationships and grow emotionally. Students may participate in:
Reflection sheets
Peer mediation
Apology letters or acts of kindness
Restorative circles
Positive Behavior Supports
We love to celebrate effort, kindness, and progress!
Tree Tokens
rewards for positive choices
01

recognizing responsibility and respect
02
Classroom incentives
teamwork celebrations
03
Celebrations of Excellence

04
Communication & Documentation
Teachers keep a record of recurring behaviors and contact parents after Tier 2 incidents. The administration reviews and updates student support plans each quarter to ensure steady growth.
Code of Ethics
At The Learning Tree STEAM Academy, we uphold the highest ethical standards for all teachers, staff, and administrators. Our Code of Ethics — adapted from the Florida Department of Education — outlines professional expectations, reporting responsibilities, and protections for students and families.
Together, we model respect, empathy, and integrity for every child. We believe parents are vital partners in guiding behavior. Our families:
Quality
Review and sign the Parent–Student Agreement
Support
Participate in parent workshops on positive discipline
Communication
Stay in open communication with teachers and staff
Annual Review
This plan is reviewed each school year by our leadership team, staff, and parent representatives to ensure it continues to serve our community’s needs.
